12.5% of the Rogue Rosé proceeds will be donated to Bright Pink, a non-profit organization that focuses on educating women on life-saving behaviors to reduce their risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

How did we get to the 12.5% donation?
1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer over their lifetime. The proceeds are not only to support Bright Pink, but also to raise awareness of the prevalence of breast cancer. Bright Pink has a variety of initiatives that teach young women how to reduce their risk of breast and ovarian cancer, or detect them early on. To learn more, visit https://www.brightpink.org/.

My Story
I have multiple connections dear to my heart relating to breast cancer. My grandmother was diagnosed with it when I was relatively young and still did not fully comprehend the effects. The breast cancer eventually spread to her brain and after a long battle she passed away. Come freshman year of college I joined Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, whose national philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness. Throughout my years in college I helped pass out ribbons, spread facts at pink-out football games, and attend workshops. As an official partner of Zeta Tau Alpha, Bright Pink hosted these workshops. We would learn how to assess and reduce our risk of breast and ovarian cancer and how to perform and what to look out for in monthly breast exams. My biggest takeaway from these workshops was signing up for a monthly text reminding me to do a breast exam. This brings me to my third connection, my very own boob lump. Early in the summer of 2017, after receiving one of the reminder texts, I discovered a lump in my right breast. I went to get it checked out and luckily it turned out to be a benign tumor called a fibroadenoma. I can only wonder what my life would be like if it had been something else. One thing I am certain about is how grateful I am for the things I learned from Bright Pink’s workshops.
