About Us

Caihailian Vineyard is owned by Bob and Anne Ramsey, and is named for their three fantastic kids: Cailin, Hailey, and Iain. Bob manages the 3 acre vineyard with an incredible amount of passion. Caihailian is located southwest of Charlottesville on the road to Wintergreen Resort, in the Monticello AVA.

Meet the Wine Grower

Bob Ramsey has been engaged in the art of growing wine grapes since 1998. He started by learning to grow six vines at the family's garden plot in Arlington, VA. In 2000, he found a vineyard for sale near Charlottesville, VA, and started making small batches of wine.  As the vineyard developed, Bob’s knowledge and skill increased; his first entry as a home-winemaker in the 2010 Virginia State Fair won Best in Show!​
